Les fondations du barrage de Ridracoli (Italie)
The foundations of Ridracoli dam
Abstract
The Ridracoli arch-gravity dam, which is located in the Central Appennines, rests on a stratified rock mass consisting of alternating layers of sandstone and marl.
In the paper the most significant geological and structural characteristics are presented as well as the « in situ » tests for the mechanical characterization of the rock mass : plate bearing test, hydraulic pressure chamber, flat jack, shear test.
Then the solution adopted for the stabilization of the abutments during the excavation is presented. Attention is also devoted to the instrumentation for the control of the deformations of the foundation during the construction and the exercise of the dam.
