Les effets du gel et du dégel naturel sur les sols ont été étudiés depuis longtemps, notamment dans les pays nordiques.
Ces effets peuvent être utilisés au moyen de la congélation artificielle pour résoudre des problèmes de génie civil.
Après des indications sur les caractéristiques des sols, l'auteur expose les principes théoriques de la congélation artificielle ainsi que les différents procédés applicables.
Il décrit ensuite plusieurs exemples d'application de cette technique.
Abstract
Effects of natural frost and thaw of soils have been studied for a long time, especially in northern countries.
By means of artificial freezing, it is possible to use these effects for solving engineering problems.
After giving some informations about characteristics of soils, the author shows the theoretical grounds of artificial freezing and the different processes that can be applied.
Then he describes several applications of this technic.
