Regarding the article Philippe Reiffsteck, et al. Evaluation of timber pile bearing capacity for transportation structures and cultural heritage building foundation retrofitting. Rev. Fr. Geotech. 2024, 181, 3, a prior version was published by mistake.
Along some minor typos, three short paragraphs were missing in the version initially published:
Page 2: “These parameters are measured or given parallel to the grain (longitudinal axe). The module of rigidity GLR, i.e., the resistance to deflection caused by shear stress in the longitudinal-radial plane, may be determined as a ratio of 7 to 9% of EL for the species under consideration.”
Page 12: “For comparison, at a limit pressure of 0.04MPa, a cast in situ displacement pilewould have a unit lateral friction of 0.037MPa and a driven closed end tubular steel pile of 0.024MPa.”
Page 12: “Finally, timber piles may be designed in accordance with the NF P 94-262 standard, which complies with the future Eurocodes 5 and 7, using a specific timber pile category in pile class 4 with coefficients of 0.9, 1.1, 0.4 and 0.9 for the soil types silt and clay, sand and gravel, chalk and marl and calcareous marl respectively, with the same limitation for qs; max as for driven steel piles with closed ends and pressure meter bearing capacity factors kp;max of pile class 4 (according to AFNOR, 2012; Burlon et al., 2014). It is important, as specified by Eurocode 5, to limit the potential decay of wood and therefore friction by keeping timber piles fully submerged. Durable components should be used to connect the piles to the supported structure.”
The final version of the article has been published once more concomitantly to this erratum. The Publisher sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused.
