Aborder l'effet d'échelle en mécanique des roches est difficile par la bibliographie, ingrat par l'expérience.
Divers éclairages théoriques peuvent néanmoins aider à la compréhension de cet effet.
L'essentiel de ce texte est consacré à la définition des dimensions caractéristiques d'un massif rocheux, des exemples prenant principalement comme source des données de diagraphies de forage.
Abstract
Tackling the scale effect problem in rock mechanics is difficult and rather inproductive (litterature, experiment, ...). However different theoretical lightnings may help to understand this effect.
The essential part of this paper is devoted to the definition of characteristic dimensions of a rock mass; the given examples have their sources in data from drilling parameters logs.
