Experimental studies of foundations subjected to horizontal tilting

Résumé

Une vingtaine d'essais de renversements de fondations ont été réalisés en terrain naturel. Au cours de ces essais ont été mesurés : les déplacements de la fondation et son inclinaison, le moment de renversement, et les trois composantes des contraintes à l'interface sol-fondation. Ces essais ont permis l'élaboration d'une méthode très simple permettant de prévoir le comportement d'une fondation soumise au renversement à partir d'essais pressiométriques.

Abstract

We have made some twenty tests of tilting on foundations in natural soil. During the tests we measured the displacement of the foundation, its inclination, the moment and the three components of stress on the contact soil-foundation. These tests allow us to propose a simple method of calculating the behaviour of a foundation, subject to horizontal tilting forces, from pressuremetric data.
